Mortality cover

If you have purchased your horse insurance from Insure My Pet, we will provide you with a comprehensive policy to give you peace of mind that you and your horse are covered against all eventualities, including the unfortunate sudden death of your horse whether due to an illness or accident, or having to be put to sleep due to its incapacity.

In the event that your horse dies, Insure My Pet will provide you with mortality cover, this will provide you with the market value, or the sum insured of the horse in the event of its death, whether this is from an accident, illness or a disease, providing it was contracted during the period of insurance.

Mortality cover through our horse insurance policy will give you the reassurance that should your horse have to be put to sleep following an accident or illness, or suddenly dies you will be financially secure. Our insurance for horses will be restricted to mortality cover against accidental external injury only if the horse insured is of veteran age.

If you have to have your horse put down due to an accident or illness to free the animal of any suffering, disposal costs of up to £150 will be paid from our horse insurance policy, providing that the horse insurer has given consent that this is for the best of the horses welfare.
